- Kiwifruits originated in northern China where it was mostly eaten for medicinal purposes and was originally called the ‘Chinese Gooseberry’.
- In the early 20th century Kiwifruit spread to New Zealand, and eventually, Europe and the United States. The New Zealanders called it “kiwi” after their national small flightless bird.
- Kiwifruit grows as vine and can reach the size of 10 meters (33 feet) in length.
- Kiwifruits come in many different varieties and can be with yellow or even pink flesh.
